Old Mates

I have over the last few months caught up with one or two of the reprobates who were performing locally in those days and in most cases they are 'still at it' if you will pardon the expression. Some managed to make the odd record, some even got on to the radio, but the main point was that they were 'live' and local, this made them accessible to any kid who wanted to emulate them but didn't know where to start, you could come across them any day in town, out shopping or possibly having a pint, and you could talk to them, they were responsible for many a young lad picking up a guitar, drum sticks etc and having a go themselves, that is how so called 'pop' music develops and progresses.
